America's Farmer Grow Communities Project

Wheat farming involves a lot of tractor work to prepare the fields.Monsanto has an interesting project this fall with $2500 grants available. Entries are due by December 31, 2010.

There will be one winner for each county, from the counties on the eligibility list. In Oklahoma, these counties are eligible: Garfield, Grant, Jackson, Kay, Leflore, Ottawa, Texas, Tillman and Wagoner.

A qualifying farmer makes the entry and nominates a charity. If the farmer lives in a city of 30,000, the grant must go to an agriculture related organization – 4-H, FFA, food pantry, etc. If the farmer lives in a city or town under 30,000, the grant must fit within one of two priority areas: (i) Community Enrichment – hospitals, community centers, schools, ballparks, fire departments, etc.; or (ii) Youth in Agriculture – 4-H and FFA.

You'll find all the official rules on the Monsanto site.
