The National Endowment for the Arts is now accepting applications for The Big Read, promoting community-wide reading programs between September 2012 and June 2013.
Approximately 75 towns nationwide will be awarded a grant, access to online training resources, and promotional materials. Public libraries, local governments, art centers, museums, historical societies and arts organizations are eligible.
Grants range from $2,500 to $20,000 and must be matched 1 to 1 with non-federal money. The funds may be used to purchase books, pay speakers and travel, advertise and related expenses. The application deadline is February 1, 2012.
